When it is announced that Mesh will be opened on the Main Grid, I would like to have a 'celebrate mesh' day with something like this:

We could have freebie meshes made available by Raglan Artesians
We could have 'mesh on a stick', something cheap that looks like a mesh with a stock poked through it
We could have special classes that encourage people to get started with making stuff in Blender, and how they can get their stuff into Second Life
And as a cap to this, we could watch several OpenMovies, movies made in Blender. These movies show what is possible. In fact, the needs of making these movies has forced the Blender folks to improve the technical aspects of the software in order to produce the movies.

Elephant's Dream - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsGEWHNJ3s8
Big Buck Bunny - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE7VzlLtp-4
Sintel - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRsGyueVLvQ

I hope this is something that could be done quick with minimal fuss, but still be a way for the community to kick off this new technique for making things and to cultivate more Raglan artists in our community.

Thank you for the opportunity to make this suggestion. Smiley

Yeah, but has anybunny seen the movies made with Blender that I quoted? Would "Bug Buck Bunny" and "Sintel" be good movies for Raglan to host in connection with the public release mesh? (No date for that set yet.)
