Ok, 7Seas just threw an amazing event called Fishiversary, and we *need* to be a part of it next year.
7Seas is a grid-wide fishing game, that has contests for money and trophies, you can catch custom-made fish and objects, and meet all kinds of people (including non-Raglan tinies, even some who have never heard of Raglan *GASP*). Fishiversary is a way to meet new fishers, catch customs that are only available that event, and to learn about new fishing spots across the Grid.
This year, 7Seas rented three sim for the four-day event. One sim was for their parties. The other two sim each had 25 available mini-islands which people/communities/vendors/creators could create their own lil fishing island/display and set out servers (called Custom Prize Givers) for the fishers. The event was amazing, and people kept fishing for several days after the event ended up the Lindens hadn't cleared the land!
Every year there is a "anniversary gift theme", like year one was paper, year two was cotton, and next year will be leather. So what types of things can we make to give out from a Raglan fishing island? Fish, clothing, artwork, gestures, boxes of textures, and fishing rods were all things I caught this year. Fish made with leather textures? Fish stamped with famous leather designer names/logos (you know, the ones that have all the fake wanna be brands with slightly different logos/letters, you probably own one!). Imagine leather objects made with fins and eyes to look like fish like high heels, cowboy boots, ballet slippers, purses, briefcase, backpack, belts (as an eel maybe?!), wallet...? Even just items that would be great for tiny fishers (hats, rods, chairs, tiny fishing boats).
I will get more details as they are available. I believe this year you got a 20x20 parcel (could also continue your build below water or even into the sky!), and 300 prims. You could put out as many servers as you wanted. You can set items for different levels of skill needed to catch (i.e., how rare your item is, or how hard they have to work to catch it!), if bait is needed to catch the items, and how often your items are actually given out to people who caught a fish that matches the same rarity level (hit/miss rates).
This year there were some amazing builds, and there should be plenty of pictures on Flickr if you wanna start thinking about ideas. It would also be great if some designers will willing to donate some items, like Poco Loco gave out their ferret avatar as a highest level or rarity item, which might help get some bigs to try out tiny life! WOOT!
Ok, so think about it, let it percolate...
