Well. 100% of the voters choose the same category I did - other.

Wait - I'm the first voter.

LOL.

Anyway - I like folk music mostly.

I put "other."  I'm fairly picky about my music, in that I don't like stuff with harsh lyrics/language, and I actively avoid "top 40" type music.  I listen to alot of techno (many varities), metal, rock, ambient, some classical.  I also work hard to limit my non-classical/folk listening to Christian artists.

I usually listen to R&B, but I'll listen to almost anything that isn't polka or heavy metal

I listen to almost anything: pop, rock, classical, musical - depending on my mood and sudden urge to relive childhood memories  Wink

I don't listen to heavy metal and the likes. I guess I'm too old for that  Huh?

I'm with Chaffro, too.  Love my ambient electronica.  DroneZone, Cryosleep, and Bluemars (bluemars.org for the last two!) are my friends!

I don't listen to music unless it's someone else's music, so I put "other". IE, I listen to music if I'm in your car or listening to your stream on SL. I never listen to music when I'm the only one around

Looks like I regularly listen to the same stations Copper does. But I like all kinds of music, so it's easier to list what I would turn off: country, rap, gospel. That's it!

Generally I leave my stream on at all times -- I've discovered great stations around SL that way!  Lips Sealed

Bith: I grew up on old country.  Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, lots of folks whose names escape me just now.  Stuff from the 40's to the 70's.  Before it turned into rock with a southern drawl.  As for gospel, I have to agree, in general. Same for rap.  I grew up on Run DMC and the like.  What passes for rap today makes my ears bleed and beg for mercy.  There is some good stuff out there though.

This post will be a lot longer than it should be...

I chose Other. Short answer: http://www.pandora.com/people/shardsofblue

Long Answer: I have a problem when it comes to most music, and that is that I get tired of it extremely fast. Anything set to music instantly lodges itself in my brain - which is why I learned my address as a kid by singing it when my mom had the bright idea to set it to a tune. As a result, I can't listen to most radio stations for more than a month, even intermittently. Pop music grates at my little dragon brain more than most, because it's designed to be (for the most part) simple and catchy. Same with country.

Because of all this, I'm drawn to music without lyrics (jazz, techno), music with lyrics I can't understand (Japanese, Russian, German, African), and music with "make you think" lyrics. Gothic fits the bill best on that last one, especially since they usually have complex musical themes as well.

Pandora radio is perfect for me because it draws from a wider, more varied pool than traditional radio stations, but even so I usually listen to a 'quickmix' of all or many of my stations.

I used to think that the only music I didn't like was Heavy Metal, Rap, and Country. I've revised that to say Pop, Country, and most heavy metal, rap, and R&B, though not all. I still haven't met a country song that I could listen to for more than a minute.
