I would like to run a Frootcake Tourament in June.  Zayn had some ideas about people signing up and names being put on a tracking playoff sheet with brackets.

I could do it June 19 - Friday evening and all day Saturday, June 20; and/or June 26 and 27.

Any ideas?  Discussion.  Zayn had a pretty good plan.  I'll let him tell it.

We'll need a sheet made, and a trophy.  I could use an assistant as well.

Woot!

Ya that sounds great Smiley   Im still fried from yesterday and the Squares so i dont remember much bout the plan but i think it was like, umm... tourney over the weekend. get folks to sign up, we have a trophy and a grand prize for the winner,  we play folks against each other over 2 days and 3 nights until we has a winner...

Of course we'll need a Name for our trophy.......

thats prolly a good place to start Smiley

as I recall Damien was willing to donate a turtle house worth 500 or so lindens, Zephyr was willing to donate a horse of some kind and Comka was willing to donate a gift cert. for this.

I had asked a few months back for prizes for either this or Mardi Gras and who would be interested. we had cash prize money instead for mardi gras, so I'm pretty sure those 3 artisans would still be willing to donate prizes. I think at the time we thought we would have a frootcake tourney during mardis gras.

Prizes.  Woot!

Ok. If it's to be over three days and two nights, it can start Thursday.  Or go through Sunday.  If I don't have a church board meeting that Sunday (which I might not because it's Father's Day) I can get back from church at a reasonable time for Sunday events.

Name for trophy - how about Frootiest Player.

I have our IM conversation saved on my home computer, Zayn, where you had some great ideas about how it would go.  I'll post that when I get home.

Ooh, I like the idea of that! Would it be a case of trying to play everyone over that weekend? Since obviously people won't be available to be on all the time, so how would that work? Would the players have to organise a time when they can play?

Hi Davey!

Zayn suggested having brackets.  People would sign up to play and we could draw who plays against whom.  Maybe we should have people say what times they are available.  Then 5 people could sit down and play three games.  The winner would move on to another playoff.  It could start around noon on Friday, if I can find a Euro helper, and go through Sunday.

We're still working on ideas.  So if anyone has suggestions feel free.

FROOTCAKE... IT'S INTENSE!

I have Fridays off, so I'm more than happy to help Smiley As long as that means I can participate as well!

Lego, I have copies of some automated brackets that Awor made; they would work just fine.

Thanks, Davey!  I'd be pleased to have you help, and of course you can play too.

Chaffro, that's great.  Can we put 5 in a bracket?

The brackets are deigned to have one name on them; they're the ones we used for Cat Fight tournaments. I don't know how you'd get 5 names on, then go to a single name, etc etc. I think you'd need to figure out how many people you were having in the first place, then try and work out the elimination system from there.

as for times of the toruney, the only real way to do it is to have it over a weekend. Again depending on how many people sign up.. say... 20, you could do 4 tables of 5.. they each play each other for 3 games. Person with highest point total moves on.   We would do table by table. until initial 5 tables have played, then the following day have the championship as the 5 winners play each other but hav it much much more then 3 games to make it really competitive. 10 games of frootcake or something so they have time to really dig in.

I dont think brackets are needed or will even work for frootcake honestly.

Prolly best to have times starting around 10 am or 11 am on saturday and sunday so everyone can attend.

That sounds good, Zayn.  I can be involved all day on Saturday, and if it's not a board meeting Sunday, I can be back from church by around 11:30SL on Sunday.
