Hello all, Crosslips

I'm compiling a list of fun holiday movies that we "might" be able to get and watch this holiday season.  If you have one you would like to see please let me know.

thanks

Hi Shadow!
Great to see that you'll be in the Mammoth Movie Team  Cheesy

The first movie that springs to my mind is The Muppet Christmas Carol - but I dunno if we had that last year.

Oh yes!  I second Bo's suggestion of A Muppet Christmas Carol!

I would also suggest (if it can be found) Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas.  Either version (There are two, the original HBO, and the edited-for-political-correctness version which aired on, iirc, CBS or Fox, and was later aired on HBO).

Apparently, there were some questionably racist comments made about Emmit's mother by someone else in the show.  It was (apparently) never an issue on HBO, but whoever bought the rights to the show after them decided it was too risque for "family television" so they cut it out.  The permanent way, with scissors.  When HBO got the rights back a few years later, they didn't bother to edit it back in.

I agree.  Now, you just have to find it.  And therein lies the trick.  I've only seen the edited version for sale.  The only way I know of to get the unedited was to get ahold of the (very limited apparently) Collectors  Edition.  25th anniversery or some such.  I havent seen one for sale that I could afford though.
A quick check of ebay reveals at a few copies, going anywhere from ~$8US to $15US.  (Which is still more than I have at the moment.)

We'll see.  If any does decide to buy a copy, #1, look for the one that says "Collectors Edition" (not "Christmas Classics"), it should also say something like "Never before seen footage!".  And #2, please don't bid against me (wulfcub on ebay)

Let the biddin wars begin! muhahaha!  Evil

Just kidding. Really some racist otter comments? someone not an otter lover? how dare they!

This really was a cute little movie. I gotta confuse the muppets, even Sesame Street, is still funny after all these years. When I cant sleep I usually can find Sesame Street on. Today Telly monster was Texas Telly, a spoof on Indiana Jones. A couple days ago cookie monster was given the "cookie touch" and was turning everything in sight into a cookie and gobbling it up. Just hilarious! I couldnt stop laughing. Tongue

The cookie touch?? Really?  Was that a recent episode or a rerun?  I could swear I remember such an episode from when I was a kid.

--Copper... who just acts like a kid.

This was a recent episode, they had Sandra Oh, from Grey's Anatomy, as Cookie monster's fairy godmother. Was pretty funny episode with Telly monster as Texas Telly, a giant muppet snake went by and Telly goes: "Snakes, why's it gotta be snake." Then the snake looks up and said "Monsters! why's it got to be monsters!" Classic muppet humor! They still got it.  Grin

Yea, Jim Henson in my top 10 ppl too, along with Mr. Rogers (go figure). Something impressive about both men, they have just a gentle, caring, patient nature about them.

I loved the new American Express commerical's with Jim Henson footage in them. Sad that he's gone and really shame the way he died, which esentially was a throat infection that went to sepsis/blood poisoning. He deserved better than that. *sigh*

Good to know there are ppl that fondly remember him and that the writers on Sesame Street still keep alot of his sense of humor alive.

I love the really old clips of Muppets/Kermit that are pre-sesame street, like the Ed Sullivan show. there is a dvd out there called Muppets Magic Ed Sullivan Clips.

methinks I should start a whole new thread of this Sesame street fun.
I did find this funny clip of a pre-Sesame street version of Cookie monster, he's kinda green and got teeth! Says its 1971, but Sesame Street I think started in 1969.

You can hear laugh track of ppl, so I think this is one of the Ed Sullivan clips.

"Oooohhhhh ffffuuuudddggge..."  Except I didn't say "Fudge", I said the mother of all words!

And that adorable bunny sleeper with the footies and the ears and... You'll shoot your eye out!

--Copper, dying to see the movie again.
