2008 Raglan Tiny Olympics – Final Wrap Up & Thanks!

So its been a few weeks since the end of the Spectacular Raglan Shire Tiny Olympics & I thought I’d do a huge Ginormous wrap up post thanking everyone.

First off, our FINAL Linden Total for the Olympics fundraising effort for was 125,325L!
This is a fantastic total considering we raised this in only 3 weekends. Once again, the tiny population in Second Life is minuscule… TINY even! we make up less then 1% of the total Second Life population so to be able to raise what we did is awesome and everyone involved deserves huge props!  YAYYYY! *Kermit the Frog wild arm flailing*

Shortly, I’ll be selling the linden on the Lindex to convert it to real life money to send off to ONE.Org. When its all said and rounded up, this will ultimately be $500 USD that will be sent to ONE. which combined with the previous two ONE fundraising events we did at this years Tiny MardiGras & last years Medieval festival in October of ’07 is a total of $1300.00 USD

That is a lotta Money & will go far in helping people & educating others around the globe!
Once again, Way to go folks! *more Kermit the frog wild arm flailing*

Tiny Olympics Ends in Fine Style!

After Four weekends & three grueling weeks of Olympic competition, The RED TEAM has won the Overall Team Points competition to take the Gold Medal in the TIny Olympics! Captained by Karmagirl Avro, the Red team showed focused determination & Teamwork & never wavered in their march to Olympic Golden Glory!

Congratulations Red Team!

And Congratulations to the Purkle team who took the SIlver Medal & to the Green Team who took Bronze!

In Fairness its almost unfair to announce winners as everyone on all the teams were fantastic! Everyone competed hard, tried their best, showed excellent sportsmanship  & had a blast during the entire Tiny Olympic Games!  Way to go Everyone!

Saturdays final two events were the Tiny Olympic Fencing & The Tiny Tower of Victory! Both were a blast to watch as the purple team took gold in fencing while the Red Team took Gold in the Tower.

Sunday we enjoyed the Closing ceremonies which saw the Team Medal Awards presentation, A Wonderful Live Musical performance by Noma Falta & Her All TIny Backing band (LOL) and the final words which saw A massive fireworks show & the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame at the main torch!

But do not feel sadness as the flame was extinguished, for in Raglan Shire tradition, A small portion of the flame was passed to Xavier, The Curator of the Raglan Shire Museum located on the Raglan Commons sim where it will continue to burn as part of an Exhibit detailing the Raglan Shire Tiny Olympics!

Look for more verbage in the next few days about the Olympics but for now, once again, WTG ALL!

We raised OVER $120,000 L For ONE.ORG!

Tinys Rule 😀

ONE LAST Tiny Olympic Weekend to Go!!

The Close of the Tiny  Olympics is near! eep!

But theres still a few things left before we extinguish the flame!

On Friday, Jo’s hosting Movie night at 11 am at The Theater Dome! She’ll be screening the Animated film, The Incredibles!  (fek i LUV that movie!)

Then later that night at 6pm, Karma and the Red Team will be hosting an Olympic Toga Party for everybody! It will be held at the Tiny Olympic Village located behind the Paw & Whisker on Raglan Shire. Karma will be DJ’ing tunes & there should be the usual Tiny insanity that everyone’s come to expect 🙂

Then on Saturday its the last day of competition as The teams will compete in the last 2 events of the Tiny Olympics! The Tiny Fencing Tourney at 11:30 am & The TEAM Tower of Victory Event at 1:30pm! Both of these events should be ultra exciting!

Sunday brings the closing ceremonies as we say goobye to the games, announce the overall team winners and award all teams their medals. As a special bonus, Acclaimed Blues Musician & live musical performer Noma Falto will be performing for everyone at noon on sunday!

Afterwards we’ll be extinguishing the flame and bringing to a close one of the most exciting Events that we have ever had on The Raglan Cluster! So good luck teams & enjoy this final weekend folks!

its History 😀

EDIT: on July 31st @ 8 pm, we hit our goal of $100,000L raised for!

Home Stretch of The Tiny Olympics!

This past weekend had exciting Tiny Olympic Action in Spades!

6 Events over Saturday & Sunday with the teams battling it out in the Pie Toss, the Mounted Puppy Race, the Olympic Rikshaw Race, the Equestrian Event, The Surfing Finals & the Olympic Cat Fight Tourney!

All of these events were crazy fun & exciting to watch but the story of the weekend was Etheria (pictured above) who was in the hospital Emergency room friday night (SL Time) with serious pain. Yet despite being hospitalized, Etheria was able to get patched up and dash home to log on and  not only run the Mounted Puppy Event (which was hilarious to watch) but to compete in the other events as well! And in true tiny competitive grit, in her first event, actually Win the GOLD medal and 7 points for her team in the Olympic Pie Toss!

With the Purkle team trailing the top 3 scores in the Pie Toss entering the last round, Etheria, with the Last attempt for her team to post a medal qualifying score, calmly stepped up to the Pie Toss area and launched what would become the Top Score to win the gold! Bravo! *Applause*

At the end of the 3rd weekend, Team point totals so far are:

RED TEAM – 95 Pts

With over $70,000 L raised so far for and One More Weekend to Go, there’s still plenty of STUFF to come 😀
