Welp, the Month of JANE is over! How awesome was Jane too?  The Drive in Theater, the OOL!  (there’s no P in our OOL!), the Paintball, the Futbol match! JANE rocked!

But now…thar be Pirates on the horizon! The grounds on Raglan have already started to transmogrify into the Pirate Cove! Craggy rocks surround the entire area with sandy beaches and wonderous undersea fauna and sea creatures beginning to be populated below…Pirate ships have appeared and… Rabbit Skull Island has risen once again… YARRRRR, thar be pirates approaching!

Over the next few days everything wil be furiously put into place and early next week, The Raglan Merchant folken will start placing their pirate themed wares inside Rabbit Skull Island as we prepare for the Official Kick off of PIRATE Month which starts Jelly 17th and runs through Arrghust 15th!  Tons of activities and Stuff! The Air Krakken Battle! The Treasure Hunt! The Pirate Paintball! Live music! Live Performance! Dj’s and dancing on the beach and under the sea! Plus MOAR!

THE SUMMER OF WOOT CONTINUES!!!

Fab new weekly event for Raglan Shire merchants and shoppers!

SHOPPERS: Every Weekend, you’ll be sent a list of vendors selling items at their Raglan Stores for 50L. Subscribo kiosks are located all over the Shire, hosted by the participating stores that are a part of Tiny Swagtastic Weekends Merchants! There is a main Kiosk for shoppers at the Visitor’s Center (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Raglan%20Shire/169/112/41).

MERCHANTS: Teleport to the Tiny Swagtastic Weekends Merchant Area (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Raglan%20Commons/88/176/22) and click the purkle subscribo kiosk near the landing point. Fill out the application located in the waffle pack (buy for 0L), and drop the application in the mailbox. Once you’ve joined, your landmark will be added to the vendor list, inviting shoppers to stop by and check out your items and sales!

The first Swagtastic Weekend will be Jelly (July) 2nd - 4th!

On June 23, 2010, Second Life will be officially seven years old. The event starts at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 21 and runs through Sunday, June 27 - and Raglan has a plot to help celebrate!

The fab build for Raglan was envisioned by Chaffro, and was built with the helpful paws of many Raglan residents including Chaffro, Shadow, Panacea, Dagmar, and Misa.

Holy Wootberries Batman! We’re halfway through the Year!

Jane is usually one of our more laid back months as we take a Lil breather after slamming through the first half of the year with the Mardi-Gras and the SciFi Birthday Celebration and the 5th Raglan Shire Artwalk (On a Hedge!). Janes the month where we collapse in exhaustion and chillax a bit while we prepare for the big mongo Pirate Month Celebration which starts mid Jelly and  is part of this years First ever SUMMER OF WOOT! (Fanfare!)

But have no fear! Theres still plenty of STUFF this month! The Raglan Shire State Line Drive In Theater is back all month and will be showing Movies each weekend! Pick a car to sit in, make sure your speakers turned on, grab some tasty snacks from the concession stand and BAM! MOVIE!! AT A DRIVE IN!

This coming weekend on Saturday at noon Liandras and Iwanta host The Big Tiny Paintball Tournament of Fun (and Chaos! w00t!)!! They’ve created a ginormous urban City block with buildings and streets and parks and all sorts of places to run around and hide ( In an URBAN ENVIRONMENT) and BLAST each other with Paintball guns! Its BLAST OR BE BLASTED!! Prizes to be awarded! Its Perfect Jane Mayhem

Raglan U classes also being taught this weekend on Saturday at 10 am as well as Professor Gramma Fiddlesticks teaches an Intro to Sculpties class at Raglan U!  Learn how to make sculptys! (on a stick!)

In 2 weeks, theres a Big  English Football match being planned as Raglan takes on The Elf Clan! THOCCER ACTION! Tiny Style! BAM!! Look for info to come!

The Mega Raglan Shire Block Party planned for the last weekend of Jane rounds it all out as Folks are invited to come together to meet your neighbors, enjoy some snow cones and cotton candy and other sundries and usher in the SUMMER of WOOT with games and fireworks and music and moar STUFF!  Details to come as well! Also look for the 2nd Annual Sockhop and special showing of GREASE to come as well before PIRATE MONTH Starts!

Daisyblue, Friend of the Shire and so many others. We will miss her.

Yesterday afternoon our friend Daisyblue Hefferman passed away in real life due to a stroke she suffered a few days prior. It is tragic and sad and our hearts go out to her family and friends who mourn her passing as we do.

Daisy was a tiny white rabbit when she visited The Shire and had a wonderful shop on Heron Shire full of all manner of tiny creations, clothing, knick knacks and curios. She often came to play Primtionary or visit with friends, participate in events or just wander about during themed months. She was a very friendly and kind lady and in addition to being a tiny part time was involved in many other creative ventures across the grid.

An active member in the Storytellers guild, she loved to tell stories and she was also involved with the Alliance Virtual Library Projects which was a series of Real World Library organization(s) that created interactive and historical builds within Second Life designed to provide information much like a real life library would (but with a 3D virtual world slant). Examples being the Land of Lincoln Historical sim which she built with her (and our) good friend  Krull Aeon (now Krull Quar) as well as her work on the Ray Bradbury Virtual book. She was also involved with the Community Virtual Library group which can be found on the Info Island sims and had a hand in many interesting and unique builds and projects all over the grid.

We will be having a memorial service on Heron Shire in the forest Sunday May 30th at 2pm SLT to honor Daisyblue’s memory. We’ll dedicate a small garden and plaque to her, say some words and read a poem as we say our goodbyes to our friend.

The End of The ART WALK Nears! Nuuuuuu!!

Thats right folks, this week is the last week of the 5th Art Walk on the Shire! If you haven’t already taken the time to stroll about the grounds and seen all the wonderful artwork on display you still have a few more days to do so! So much art, so much talent, so much creativity! Its all over the Raglan Shire Sim and in the forest of Heron Shire as well as on Morning Shire in the park! Cereal, you have to see all this. its ART!! On a Hedge!

DEAN LORIMAE UNDERCROFT - Top Siamese of Raglan U!

We are very very happy to announce that Lorimae Undercroft has accepted the position of Dean at Raglan U! Due to real life bombardments, Misa Delight, the previous Dean reluctantly had to step down recently and as such, the Hunt for the next Dean began!

Lorimae is a long time friend of the Shire who has her own land on Morning Shire where she runs a shop, an art gallery and where one may find a plethora of distinctive and artistic Catboxes tastefully placed about for viewing enjoyment by visitors.

In Addition, She is an avid and very talented content creator and builder (she built the brand new awesome Raglan U building!) and real life artist who also has a penchant for RL and SL greater learning! Besides taking numerous classes about the Grid to learn and perfect and improve new and existing skills, she has also taught at some of the Grids more well known Second Life based Schools such as Tui and ICE.

Because of her background, creativity, experience in teaching others along with excellent communication skills , we are tickled PURPLE that she has agreed to take on this role as the New Dean! oh and shes also as silly as any tiny can be which FURTHER makes her a perfect choice! BAM!

In addition to The New Dean position being taken on by Lori, Raglan U is also being completely revamped so as to be a more conducive over all learning experience not just for students but for the Faculty as well! Look for more details in the coming weeks as Raglan U prepares for its relaunch!

Artwalk 2010 has Begun!

Tinies gathered for a fab party to launch the 2010 Artwalk.

Groovy tunes were provided by Wolfear and tinies danced in their finest artwear.

Over 100 artists, and over 1500 pieces of art - RL, SL, 2D and 3D. Art…. on a hedge! Visit Raglan Shire (slurl) over the next three weeks to check out the fabulous art!

ART!!!

The 5th Raglan Shire Artwalk is just around the corner and promises to be a wonderful display of all things Artistic & Creative! Since its inception back in 2007 The Raglan Shire Artwalk has grown to become one of the most anticipated Art Shows in all of Second Life!

From May 9th through the end of the month you’ll be able to come and stroll about the Raglan Shire sim and view various works of real life art be they Paintings (oil or acrylic or water color etc) or drawings (charcoal, ink, pencil) or Digital art or RL photography as well as Second Life based Photography  and all of it displayed ON A HEDGE!!!! *HEDGE!!!!*  That is, Hedgerows will be ALLLLL over the sim with Art placed on the Hedge because honestly, As cool as Art is, its SO MUCH COOLER.. ON A HEDGE!

In Addition you’ll also be able to head to the Heron Shire forest and see some amazing works of Second Life Sculpture!  Last years Forest Sculptures were fantabulous and it really is something to be able to walk around in a wooded environment with flowers and trees and view all the Zazztastic works of SL Sculpture that people have created. Plus you’ll also be able to see TOPIARY!  Art made from Hedge! Its two treats in one!

Whats awesome about our ArtWalk is that we don’t just celebrate Art for arts sake, but that we are celebrating the creativity involved when people express themselves which in itself is what spawns ART! People come from all over Second Life to see the Art at our Artwalk and its a great opportunity for your work to not just be seen by the throngs of Tinys who are part of the community (many of whom are incredibly talented real life artists) but by hundreds and hundreds or folks from all over the grid! Even if you’re not an artist, we hope you come by to have a look at all the works on display. It really is something else to see! Who knows you might even be inspired!
